1) Never leave a room empty-handed. This will dramatically decrease the amount of time you spend devoted to straightening up each day. If you’re up and moving around anyway, take the opportunity to multitask and organize your home.
2) When you’re done with something, put it away–right away. Everything should have an obvious home…and if it doesn’t, create one. If you’re not sure where it should be housed, think about how and why you’re using it and whether you really need to own it.
3) Spend time to save time–and money. Before heading out for your weekly food shopping, spend five minutes assessing the contents of your entire fridge and pantry. Throw away all expired food items and make a detailed shopping list. You’ll spend less time aimlessly wandering through the store, less money over-buying food that will expire before you can eat it–and more time doing the things you love!
4) Never underestimate the power of a Post-it note. We’re huge fans of electronic calendar reminders–but a sticky note on the coffee maker or the back door can be your best friend in the midst of a hectic morning routine. When you have coffee in one hand and your keys in the other, you may not be able to reach for your phone. And if your mornings are anything like ours, you’ll take all the help you can get!
